Three sisters, one bad day, and a whole lot of Southern chaos. Don’t miss the Pulitzer-winning dark comedy Crimes of the Heart!
In the small town of Hazlehurst, Mississippi, the three Magrath sisters have reunited at their grandfather’s home. Lenny, the eldest, is facing a lonely 30th birthday; Meg, a failed singer, has returned from Hollywood; and Babe, the youngest, is out on bail after shooting her husband.
Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a warm, witty, and eccentric portrait of a family weathering a “bad day” with resilience and humor. Amidst hospital visits and legal drama, the sisters rediscover their bond in this poignant exploration of how we escape the past to seize the future. A beautiful blend of dark comedy and heartfelt drama.

Four sisters, one attic, and a lifetime of dreams. Rediscover the magic of sisterhood in this bold, high-energy take on Little Women!
Experience Louisa May Alcott’s beloved classic like never before in this imaginative adaptation by Heather Chrisler. Using a play-within-a-play structure, four actors bring the spirited March sisters to life through the power of memory and play.
As Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy grow from girls into women against the backdrop of the Civil War, they navigate love, loss, and the struggle to find their own voices. This stripped-down, high-energy production strips away the Victorian stiffness to find the heartbeat of sisterhood and the wild joy of storytelling. It’s a fast-paced, poetic, and deeply moving tribute to the stories that shape us.

SMOKESTACK’S HAUNTED HISTORY TOURS AUDITIONS
August 23, 2026
Casting actors ages 16+ for multiple roles in our annual historical walking tours. We are also seeking volunteers ages 14+ to work behind the scenes.
Casting actors ages 16+ for multiple roles based on individuals from our local history in Smokestack’s Haunted History Tours. This is one of our most popular events every year and a great opportunity for those looking for a lighter rehearsal schedule and less lines to remember. Most roles are 1-2 page scripts with 3 evenings of performing 5 tours Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and one final performance on stage Sunday. This is a great way to gain experience without the pressure of a full length production. We are also looking for volunteers as this event requires a lot behind the scenes. Register to audition, volunteer, or both! Actors cast will be required to memorize their lines prior to the first rehearsal (About 4 weeks from receiving scripts). You must register to audition or volunteer. You will have the opportunity to browse potential roles during the registration process. You should come prepared to read for a few characters during your audition. Familiarization with the role and memorization is always encouraged. Directed by Josh Lucia. Registration opens this summer!
